Problem

Mr. & Mrs. Wileman were thinking of making a few refurbishments in different areas of their home, and were contemplating the idea of renovating the cloakroom and their en-suite shower.

Both rooms had not been refurbished since the home was built around 30 years ago, and the couple wanted to bring them up to date by giving them a contemporary makeover.

Focusing on the en-suite shower room the existing design had a quadrant shower, beige tiling on the floor and walls, and completing the room was a square basin unit with storage and a dated toilet.

Solution

Their main priority was to find a reputable organisation with bathroom design expertise. That is how the couple came to find out about our More Bathrooms brand online having seen our fantastic list of reviews on Trustpilot.

Whilst online they filled out the enquiry form to be scheduled for a free design appointment.

Our showroom consultant Laura called them to get further insight into the type of refurbishment they were after.

Mr. and Mrs. Wileman explained to Laura that having seen our sound reputation online, along with being recommended by multiple friends and family as well as seeing our design capabilities through case studies, they were interested in having a designer come to their home and help re-design a new en-suite bathroom and have a look at the downstairs cloakroom.

Before confirming the appointment, Laura clarified the process of our full design and fit service, More Bathrooms' history, and how it is one of the branches of Passmore Group’s brands.

Once they had clarity and their questions had been answered, our Senior Designer Simon was scheduled to visit.

Upon his visit, Simon went around the existing en-suite shower room, taking measurements while examining the existing pipework placement. The triad then sat down for a detailed design discussion with the couple explaining they had their hearts set on having a contemporary bathroom en-suite design.

Mr. and Mrs. Wileman had plenty of ideas for the en-suite, they were interested in making it personalised as possible. They also wanted Simon’s input given his experience in bathroom design to help decide the best design that would utilise the space available.

Initially, the couple were fixed on having some sort of shower cubicle, but Simon suggested that they could better use the space by reconfiguring the design and opting for a walk-in shower design.

Simon then sketched the floor plan of how it would look. The couple was impressed and wanted to proceed with the idea of a walk-in concept instead.

They were certain that they wanted modern features to fit throughout the design and a walk-in shower would suit it perfectly. The trio agreed on adding tiles to the list of preferences, cementing the en-suite designs contemporary feel.

As part of the agreed bathroom design suggestions a new washbasin unit would be retained to still provide Mr. & Mrs. Wileman with ample storage and above it would be a mirror installation.

To give the room an overall contemporary feel the en-suite would include a comfort height wall-hung toilet and the finishing touches of the taps and shower head would feature in black to give the room that high-end aesthetic.

The couple really liked how the project of the en-suite was coming together, Simon had displayed his design expertise and managed to show a drawing to give him a glimpse of how it would look, but most importantly he had listened and incorporated his ideas to create a new collaborative en-suite shower design.

Simon then gave the couple a provisional quote for the project and invited them to our Leeds Bathroom showroom, which they were more than happy to accept.

At the second appointment, Simon presented Mr. & Mrs. Wileman with various detailed CAD visuals of how the reconfigured walk-in en-suite shower room would look finished.

They then went around to choose the final finishing touches to the design including the tiles options, to the couple’s satisfaction.

Happy with the design, and the service so far, the couple proceeded to place an order with us to carry out the en-suite shower refurbishment.

Before the installation, Mr. & Mrs. Wileman were visited by our bathroom surveyor Joe, who ensured that the correct measurements and the materials for the en-suite shower would be suitable for the new renovation.

As part of our fully project-managed service, Joe would liaise with the fitter throughout the fitting process to make sure that it ran smoothly.

Our multi-skilled fitter Ben ripped out the existing design. Where the shower quadrant and dated toilet were placed in the previous design Ben installed a large walk-in shower, accompanied by a Sommer glass panel.

On the inside of the shower brick, Vetri Blu tiles were fit transforming the showering experience created by the oceanic view the wall coverings provided.

Completing the shower area a fixed head and slide rail was fit in a black plush finish, enhancing the bathroom's contemporary atmosphere.

The rest of the room was tiled in white to further boost the modern visual of the bathroom.

A half-height stud wall was built and tiled in tandem with the rest of the ensuite. The new stud wall housed the comfort-height wall-hung toilet for a concealed maintenance free finish.

Opposite the stud wall, a gloss anthracite Vitra washbasin unit was integrated into the area that featured the previous basin.

The doors of the washbasin were of gloss anthracite bringing a different shade of a dark colour into the room but matching seamlessly with the black matte finishing features and Blu Vetri tiles.

Completing the new en-suite was a large cabinet mirror that fit above the wall-hung basin, and new birch rigid click en-core flooring was installed, increasing the room’s overall brightness.

We completely revamped Mr. & Mrs. Wileman’s ensuite shower room after carrying out our full design and fit service.

The new shower room showcases our expertise and design brilliance after we reconfigured the en-suite shower room to make best use of the available space.
